An ancient holyday about an ancient place

When I was 5, my uncle (brother of my mom) lived in Chuquicamata. So, that summer my family was invited by him family to lodge in their home. Was the year 1995, and Chuquicamata didn't see its future end. So, there were parks, hospital, many villages, schools, many people, taxis, etc. My uncle worked in the Chilex Club, playing the piano. The Chilex Club was a exclusive club for the copper workers, and it was like a luxurious hotel. So, everything was new and beautiful for me. Some days later, we visited Calama, and we saw the Loa river...I didn't believe that, because it was too narrow!. We went to a funfair, and ate in the open air. The next day we went to the chuquicamata's coppermine, we saw the minerals, and saw the great excavation! We ride in the huge trucks, all guided by a guide. Later, on the next days, we went to San Pedro de Atacama. The travel is very long, tedious and hot, specially for a 5 years old girl. When we arrived, we saw the famous mummy, in the museum, and obviously, we visited the San Pedro de Atacama's Church...what a pity have lost the photos!. I remember, the place was beautiful, and the experience was unique and special, but the only thing bad was the high height, that brought headaches, sickness or tachycardia, when the person isn't accustomed to that. But I forgetting these troubles, was unforgettable! Totally recommendable^^

Cheers!

  1. I can't believe you still can remember so many details from a trip you made when you were 5! you have a great memory!

I envy your chance to see a mummy. Those that have been discovered in the north are one of the most ancient in the world, right?
